Arq. Ingrid Van Wormer Sandorff Ingrid was born and raised in Venezuela with dual-citizenship of the United States and Venezuela and received a Bachelor in Architecture, Cum Laude, from UNIVERSIDAD RAFEAL URDANETA in Maracaibo, Venezuela. After graduating she moved to the US to work as an Architect in ARQUITECTONICA INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION in Miami. In the role she worked as part of a team to develop schematic designs, design development documents & construction documents for large-scale structures including hotels, condominiums, sport facilities, museums and commercial centers. She also developed designs for national and international competitions, and proposals for architectural presentations and Shadowed product managers at city meetings and site visits to discuss outstanding approval issues. After 5 years of Architecture experience, she decided to pursue her Master in Landscape Architecture at PENNDESIGN, UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA focusing on Ecological Landscape Design for Watershed Protection, Site Engineering and Water Management. Studio Projects: Created design for proposed conversion of Philadelphia Naval Base into commercial zone; Developed design to improve public access to volcano-formed Valle Caldera National Preservation, NM; Designed master plan for gradual development of city entrance for the Principality of Monaco; Created design for riverfront urban park located on the US-Mexico border between Ciudad Juárez, Mexico and El Paso, TX. Japan Summer Program: Gained exposure to Japanese landscape design through the summer 2003. Focused project work on exploration of Japanese use of nature to create powerful, sacred spaces. After her graduate studies, Ingrid moved to Indianapolis and worked for BROWNING DAY, an architecture, planning, landscape architecture and interior design firm. She had the opportunity to work on both sides of her field (architecture and landscape architecture), from multidisciplinary urban design and architectural constructional documents (large and small scale) to Landscape architecture for University campus walkways, Art museum gardens, and the Indianapolis Airport. These days, Ingrid is engaged primarily on smaller scale residential design projects, with the focus of providing beautiful and sustainable landscape designs to her clients. Ingrid joined CCATE in the year 2019 assisting the architecture class and she is member of the CCATE’s Plaza Latinoamericana y del Caribe subcommittee, her expertise will guide us in the process to make the plaza at the new building of CCATE.
